Though this book doesn't describe all of the original reasons for the creation of the secret Skull and Crossbones society, it is an amazing expose of an example of the secret societies which still exist in our day that are based on the secret societies of old. The original secret societies were based on the secret/sacred nature of the activities inside the Temple of Solomon. The origins can be better understood by reading the book "Hiram Key". This particular society comes to us from the ancient Fraternal Order Of John the Baptist, which is the reason for the use of the skull and crossbones...the skull of the beheaded one. The Templars were worshipers of John the Baptist. They were also the originators of the first world banking system. The first "checks" were written by these men. Perhaps this monetary reason explains the survival of this order. The author is a woman and is a member herself of another secret society on the campus of Yale University, though she picks on some of the rituals of the society which appear on the surface to be nonsensical. The importance of this book is more about the members of this society than about the nature of the rituals. Those who are familiar with secret societies, or who are members, will understand this book best. For the rest of us this book is a superior introduction into the nature of secret societies. Few of us understand how their membership controls the world in which we live. Whether we like it or not we all need to have an understanding of secret societies to understand the nature of a world who craves a "New World Order" and an exclusive world bank with a cashless society.
